The four monoprints that appear below are visual representations of the psychoanalytic processes of mourning and melancholia.  “Past Tense I” and “Past Tense II” depict melancholic processes that keep the past “tense” in the present, the tension of history reverberating in the now because it has not been witnessed and comprehended. Veiled legacies and loss of language through immigration are emphasized. “Emergence” and “Incarnating” speak to the vitalizing outcomes of successful mourning. “Incarnating” is a nascent descent of new life, barely formed; “Emergence” shows more developed, verdant spheres of self and community against a background of complexity. All four pieces reflect the  obscuration and curation of the UnCs, shown through motifs of illegibility and entanglement.
