FIAT LUX ART

I am an emerging multidisciplinary abstract artist-psychoanalyst in the San Francisco Bay Area. My artistic explorations began musically; I am intensively trained in classical music from Southern India and have extensive experience singing solo and in groups. In the last few years, my artistic practice has widened to include abstract visual art (monotype printing, acrylic painting, mixed media, collage) and psychoanalytically informed social practice that incorporates experiential-liberatory pedagogy, prose writing, group creations, and other forms of creative expression. My art and prize-winning psychoanalytic scholarly work are mutually informing, both addressing topics pertaining to socially located trauma and its consequences. Key themes include psychological processes that are hidden from one’s own view; racism and colonial legacies; migration and other forms of dislocation; collective mourning; creativity and social justice activism. In addition to my artistic endeavors, I am a practicing psychoanalyst and psychotherapist, holding faculty appointments at multiple institutions nationwide.
